ENDURANCE is a collaborative project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme from the European Commission.

What is the European Green Deal?
The European Green Deal (EGD) is a package of policy initiatives, which aims to set the EU on the path to a green transition, with the ultimate goal of reaching climate neutrality by 2050.
It supports the transformation of the EU into a fair and prosperous society with a modern and competitive economy, and was launched by the Commission in December 2019.
It underlines the need for a holistic and cross-sectoral approach in which all relevant policy areas contribute to the ultimate climate-related goal. The package includes initiatives covering the climate, the environment, energy, transport, industry, agriculture and sustainable finance – all of which are strongly interlinked.
In February 2023, the Commission presented the Green Deal Industrial Plan to enhance the competitiveness of Europe’s
net-zero industry and support the fast transition to climate neutrality, thus becoming the foundation to establish green growth
as the next cornerstone to create sustainable jobs.
The EU is investing in green jobs on a historic scale, so, to develop the skills for an inclusive and people-centered green
transition that ensures equitable and just outcomes, the third pillar of the Green Deal Industrial Plan focuses on developing
the skills needed for well-paid quality jobs, as between 35% and 40% of all jobs could be affected by the green transition.
There are over 1500 clusters located in more than 200 EU-27 regions, which account for almost 25% of total EU
employment, so by participating in EU projects clusters meet SDGs, increasing their influence on the internal and external
market.
Clusters are essential contributors and intermediaries to the creation of European alliances that support the green transition
by channeling expertise and knowledge that will facilitate the sustainable upgrading of SMEs and startups, which are often
not aware of their precise needs in terms of making the transition towards a more sustainable environmentally friendly
business model. This makes clusters the ideal facilitators for the Green Deal Industrial Plan, because they know their
members, speak their language, and have their trust.
ENDURANCE will create the necessary conditions to support green employment, bridge labor shortages, and anticipate
change in human capital needs by channeling green growth strategies through EU’s clusters. This will trigger and accelerate
industry transformation on a larger scale, helping create resilient jobs fully aligned with the EGD.
